Steven Demby Appointed to University of Colorado Energy Initiative Leadership Council

Steven C. Demby, a Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck shareholder, was recently named to the newly formed University of Colorado at Boulder’s (CU-Boulder) Energy Initiative Leadership Council. The Council will provide strategic guidance to CU-Boulder’s Energy Initiative with the goal of positioning the organization to become a leader in renewable energy and energy sustainability. Demby will serve in the Council’s law and policy seat for two years.

As co-chair of Brownstein's corporate and business department and a member of the firm's real estate group, Demby provides counsel to owners, managers, investors and financiers on a wide variety of matters involving the purchase, sale, financing, operation, expansion and consolidation of businesses, entities and assets. His work includes significant deals in the telecommunications, real estate and energy industries, and public-private partnerships.

The Energy Initiative Leadership Council is a select group of corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, advisors, scientists, policy makers and academics that provide high-level governance and strategic direction to the University of Colorado at Boulder Energy Initiative. Created to merge the private sector's market-based experience and perspective with the innovative research capabilities of the scientists and faculty at CU-Boulder, the Council provides a powerful leadership team for the Energy Initiative. CU-Boulder Chancellor, Bud Peterson and Dick Kelly, CEO of Xcel Energy, will serve as the co-chairs of the council during its inaugural term from 2008-2010. The Council is composed of twenty private sector seats and ten honorary seats for policymakers and elected officials. For more information, visit
