Publisher Chambers and Partners recognized Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck in its annual Chambers USA Guide with several practice rankings including California environment; Colorado corporate/mergers and acquisitions, labor and employment, litigation – general commercial practices, natural resources and environment and real estate; Nevada corporate/commercial, gaming and licensing, litigation – general commercial, real estate; and New Mexico corporate/commercial.

Chambers and Partners has a staff of more than 100 full-time researchers who develop rankings of lawyers and practices based on written submissions provided by law firms, telephone interviews with clients and lawyers and other resources. Inclusion in the guide is based solely on the research team’s findings.

Chambers also recognized more than 30 leading individual rankings for Brownstein attorneys as the best in their respective fields.

Numerous shareholders received honors within Chambers’ corporate category:

Adam J. Agron (Colorado Corporate/M&A), co-managing partner of the firm, represents private and public companies, investment banks, private equity and venture capital funds, sponsors and entrepreneurs in a diverse set of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, and debt and equity financings. Perry E. Bendicksen III (New Mexico Corporate/Commercial) is ranked as a top attorney, and his practice focuses on private equity, venture capital, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. Also ranked as a top attorney, David P. Buchholtz (New Mexico Corporate/Commercial) focuses on government finance law, economic development and state tax incentive law. Kevin A. Van Valen (New Mexico Corporate/Commercial – Tax) was ranked as a top New Mexico attorney in the area of corporate and commercial: tax. Van Valen devotes his energy to helping businesses, such as those invested in renewable energy projects, understand the state’s tax system as they expand in or relocate to New Mexico. Gino A. Maurelli (Colorado Corporate/M&A) is co-chair of the firm’s corporate and business department and specializes in middle market mergers and acquisitions/private equity transactions. Hubert A. Farbes, Jr. (Colorado Litigation–General Commercial) focuses on construction and regulatory matters, including public utility matters, and natural resource and environmental litigation matters, with recent civil trial experience in the state and federal district courts and the U.S. Claims Court. Kirk B. Lenhard (Nevada Litigation – General Commercial) was ranked as a top Nevada attorney in the area of litigation: general commercial. Lenhard’s practice focuses on commercial and complex litigation, and his clients have included Clark County, McCarran Airport, Republic Services and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. John V. McDermott (Colorado Litigation – General Commercial) handles all types of commercial and securities litigation matters. Lawrence W. Treece (Colorado Litigation – General Commercial) maintains a practice that focuses on antitrust, corporate governance, class actions and securities litigation, with extensive experience trying cases in both federal and state courts.

Barad (Colorado Real Estate), who served as chairman of the firm’s real estate department for more than two decades, has helped execute some of the biggest development transactions in the western U.S. Backed by more than 25 years of experience, Catherine C. Gale (Colorado Real Estate) focuses on all aspects of real estate development, with an emphasis in acquisitions and dispositions, land use and public-private partnerships. Shareholder Bruce A. Wayne F. Forman (Colorado Natural Resources and Environment) represents public and private clients in all aspects of Colorado water law, land use litigation, condemnation, and environmental law and litigation. Mark J. Mathews (Colorado Natural Resources and Environment), co-chair of the firm’s natural resources department, concentrates his practice on environmental and energy law and regulation, as well as complex litigation. A premier western water law expert, Steven O. Sims (New Mexico Environment, Natural Resources and Regulated Industries – Water Law) was ranked among the best New Mexico attorneys in the area of environment, natural resources and regulated industries: water law. Sims’ practice focuses on water-related litigation, appeals, and administrative and transactional matters. Scott S. Slater (California Environment) was ranked as a top attorney in the California environment category. An experienced litigator, Slater’s legal practice emphasizes negotiation and strategic planning for clients seeking to secure new water supplies and assisting them in meeting their objectives for reliability and sustainability.
