Pfister, Zachary S.

Zach Pfister guides clients through legislative policy affecting the financial services, health care and technology industries and crafts strategies focused on bottom-line, business-driven goals. Zach serves as one of the firm’s chief liaisons to House Democrats, leveraging relationships that span from the progressive to centrist wings of the caucus to Democratic leadership. He has a keen understanding of policy issues under the jurisdiction of the House Financial Services, Energy and Commerce, Ways and Means, and Appropriations committees.

On Capitol Hill, Zach served as legislative director for Rep. Larry Kissell (D-NC), in various positions for Rep. Brad Ellsworth (D-IN), with Sen. Evan Bayh’s (D-IN) presidential exploratory committee and with the Carter-Baker Commission on Federal Election Reform. Zach got his start in politics in the office of former Rep. Lee H. Hamilton (D-IN), during his tenure leading the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

After leaving Capitol Hill, Zach served as the senior House Democratic lobbyist for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), the premiere credit union trade association representing over 110 million members and 40 affiliated state associations. During his time at CUNA, Zach advocated on policies related to business lending, consumer protection, cooperative taxation issues, remittances, privacy and data security, and CFPB regulations.

In addition to his public policy expertise, Zach’s relationships among congressional Democrats run deep. He utilizes this broad network of relationships and policy background to identify opportunities for collaboration between clients and members of Congress aimed at building coalitions of support across the ideological spectrum of the Democratic Party.
