Ryan Wirth vs. Murka Entertainment, Los Angeles Superior Court, Complex Division, Case No. 19STCCV21116. Successfully represented an online social gaming company from California consumer class action litigation related to whether the existence and distribution of “free coins” within the platform caused the company to violate various penal code sections related to illegal gambling.

Successfully defended a significant 300,000 plus person class action case in the Central District of California wherein the experienced plaintiffs’ counsel contended that defendant failed to properly credit payments made while a borrower was in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. Brownstein filed a Motion to Dismiss and Strike arguing that plaintiffs lacked standing and that their claims were not ripe, federal law preempted the California state law based claims, and that each cause of action failed to state a claim against the defendant. In a 17 page Order, the Court agreed with defendant and granted the Motion to Dismiss and Strike without giving Plaintiffs’ leave to attempt to amend.

Counsel to a major oil and gas company in two class action disputes in which the plaintiffs sought tens of millions of dollars in damages based on alleged underpayments of royalties. On two separate occasions, we obtained a dismissal of the entire case on behalf our client.
